Heavy Rain Could Cause Minor Flooding Thursday, Dry Weather Returns Saturday

Some heavy rainfall amounts over 2 inches are possible, and could result in localized flooding.

ILLINOIS — "Unsettled weather" is possible through Friday, before a dry Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Periods of rain are possible Thursday into Friday, especially for areas west and southwest of the Chicago metro, the weather service said. Some heavy rainfall amounts over 2 inches are possible, and could result in localized flooding.

The weather service said a few embedded thunderstorms are possible with the heavy rain-producing showers, but severe weather isn't expected.

Temps will still be fairly warm, despite the rain in the forecast. Thursday has a high of 79 and Friday a high of 83, according to the weather service.

Drier weather will return for Saturday, which has a high of 82 degrees. However, a chance of rain returns on Sunday, especially for areas near and west of Interstate 39, the weather service said.
