Lemont Library Board Accepting Applications For Board Vacancy

The appointed Trustee will serve until the next consolidated election in Spring 2027.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Public Library District Board of Trustees is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat created by a recent resignation, the Library shared on its Facebook page. Community members interested in being considered for appointment must apply by Feb. 1.

Included in the application must be:

  • A letter of interest
  • A statement of qualifications (such as a resume)
  • Confirmation that they will attend the February Board meeting on Feb. 10, when applicant interviews will be held

Applicants must also meet all requirements under the Illinois Public Library District Act of 1991 (75 ILCS 16/30-20), including:

  • Being a qualified elector (registered voter) who has resided within the Lemont Public Library District for at least one year prior to applying
  • Having no convictions in any U.S. court for an infamous crime, bribery, perjury or other felony
  • Not being in arrears on taxes or any other indebtedness owed to the Lemont Public Library District

The appointed Trustee will serve until the next consolidated election in Spring 2027, with the elected successor seated in May 2027. Trustee positions are uncompensated, according to the library.
