Kingery Highway Bridge Repairs Underway Until October

To complete the work, Kingery Highway will be reduced to a single southbound lane, from Bluff Road to 107th Street/Archer Avenue, IDOT said.

LEMONT, IL — Repairs to the bridge carrying Kingery Highway over the Chicago Sanitary & Ship Canal in Lemont started on Monday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

To complete the work, Kingery Highway will be reduced to a single southbound lane, from Bluff Road to 107th Street/Archer Avenue (Illinois 171), IDOT said. During that time, a detour will direct northbound traffic to Archer Avenue, Willow Springs Road and 55th Street.

The bike trail along the bridge will not be impacted.

The project, which consists of structural steel repairs, is anticipated to be completed in early October.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternative routes are encouraged, IDOT said. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
