Lemont Boys’ Tennis Posts Program-Best Finish At State Finals

LEMONT, IL — After sending a full contingent to the state finals for just the second time in program history, Lemont High School’s boys’ tennis team posted the program’s best finish in the team standings, according to a release from LHS.
Head coach Jon DeGuzman’s team tied for 12th at the 2024 IHSA Class A Boys’ Tennis State Finals, which were contested from May 23-25 and hosted by Palatine High School. Lemont was represented at the boys’ tennis state finals for the 17th time in 18 seasons.
Each of Lemont’s four state finals entries won at least one match. Seniors Ethan Bator and Shokhrukh Muradov each were making their second straight appearances in the singles competition at the state finals. Each finished the event with one win and two losses, with each of those wins coming in the first consolation round, according to the school.

The doubles tandem of senior Rehan Saraiya and junior Sean Svoboda put forth Lemont’s top performance at the event, as they combined to win three of five matches and advanced to the fourth consolation round. Juniors Aditya Oberai and Vikram Oberai split four matches and reached the third consolation round. Both of Lemont’s doubles entries won their opening round contests, LHS said.
Prior to this year, Lemont’s previous best finish in the team standings was a tie for 16th at the 2017 IHSA Class A State Finals.
