Lemont High School Golfer Becomes School’s First Girls’ Golf All-State Performer
Sarah Scott was the top freshman finisher among both the IHSA Class 1A and IHSA Class 2A State Finals competitions.

LEMONT, IL — In just her first season on campus, Lemont High School freshman Sarah Scott made school history on the links, LHS shared in a news release. Scott placed sixth at the 2025 IHSA Class 2A Girls’ Golf State Finals, which were contested on Oct. 10-11 at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur.
Just the second freshman in program history to compete in the state finals, Scott became Lemont girls’ golf’s first all-state performer, and was the top freshman finisher among both the IHSA Class 1A and IHSA Class 2A State Finals competitions.
Scott found herself among the leaders from the outset and was one of the most consistent players throughout the event, according to LHS. She was tied for tenth after the first day of competition when she posted a +3 75. However, she tied for the third-best round on the final day, shooting a -2 70.

Scott collected six birdies while posting just seven bogies over 36 holes, and ended the event with a +1 145. Her rounds of 75 and 70 are the two best rounds ever for a Lemont girls’ golfer in state finals play.
Scott became the first state qualifier from head coach Bill Mondrella’s program since 2018 when she tied for fourth with a +3 75 at the IHSA Lockport Sectional at Broken Arrow Golf Club in Lockport, the school said. She was the top finisher among golfers whose teams did not advance to the state finals.

Scott tied for third with a +5 75 at the IHSA Hinsdale South Sectional at Carriage Greens Country Club in Darien. Lemont (374) placed sixth in the team standings.
Scott also earned medalist honors at the 2025 South Suburban Conference Golf Meet, helping Lemont to the team title.
Scott is one of just five players in program history to advance to state finals play, joining Emily Lejman ‘12 (2011), Bridget Lynn ‘14 (2012, 2013), Maggie Micetich ‘19 (2015, 2018), and Chantelle Mika ‘99 (1997). Micetich was the first freshman in program history to qualify for the state finals, while Mika’s 13th-place finish was the program’s best state finals effort prior to this year.
