Lemont Man Elected As A Commander For Coast Guard Auxiliary Division
Colello has served with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary since February 2022.

LEMONT, IL — A Lemont man has been elected as the new vice division commander for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 37, which is based in Willowbrook, according to a news release.
Salvatore Colello, of Lemont, was recently elected during the division's change of command.
Colello has served with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary since February 2022, according to the group. He has held various appointed positions in the Coast Guard Auxiliary at the Flotilla and Division levels. Colello was elected and previously served as Vice Flotilla Commander and Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 37-25.

Colello is retired from the Chicago Police Department after 30 years of service. He is married and has two children and five grandchildren, the group said.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed civilian component of the U.S. Coast Guard and supports the Coast Guard in nearly all mission areas. The Auxiliary was created by Congress in 1939. For more information, visit www.cgaux.org.
