Lemont Swears In 2 New Police Officers

Officers Rodrigo Morna Freitas and Ryan O'Reilly took their oaths of office at Monday's Board meeting.

LEMONT, IL — At the Lemont Village Board meeting on Monday, two new police officers were sworn into office. Officers Rodrigo Morna Freitas and Ryan O'Reilly took their oaths of office.

Police Chief Marc Maton said O'Reilly is a graduate of UIC and also played professional baseball, including for the Joliet Slammers.

Morna Freitas was a community service officer for Bloomingdale Police before coming to Lemont, Maton said.

"Rodrigo was the valedictorian of the graduating class [at the police academy]," Maton added.

"It's great to have two officers to join us. You guys are going to be outstanding," Mayor John Egofske said.
