Lemont Winter Weather Reminders: Snow Removal, Parking Ordinance

LEMONT, IL — With the start of the snowiest month for the Chicago area, it is likely that Lemont will see at least one major snowfall in January.
Weather outlets and forecasters are already discussing the possibility of a major snowstorm hitting Chicago next week.
In Lemont, the Village enforces odd-even parking after snowfall of two inches or more. The restrictions call for cars to park on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days of the calendar, and the even-side of the street on even calendar days.

"The public works department has divided the Village into nine different zones to ensure that the snow removal and ice control is being handled in a timely manner," according to the Village website.
The Public Works Department has three priorities for plowing and salting when there is a snowfall event. Priority one is primary roads with high traffic volume, roads near schools, hills, and emergency access roads, according to the Village.

Priority two is secondary roadways with moderate traffic, and priority three is cul-de-sacs and dead end streets.
If residents are in need of a warming center, there are several available in Lemont including at the Lemont Township Office, Lemont Park District CORE, Lemont Public Library, and Lemont Village Hall.
