LHS Junior Sets School Record At IDEA State Competition
The school earned three medals at the state's top drafting competition.

LEMONT, IL — For the second straight year and fourth time overall, Lemont High School students earned three medals at the state’s top drafting competition, according to a release from the school. At the 2025 Illinois Design Educators Association State Competition, which was contested at Illinois State University on April 12, junior Mirella Miazga was the state runner-up in Architectural Board, while senior Rowyn Page (Architectural Board) and junior Hubert Bydlon (Introductory Board) placed third in their events.
Miazga joined Matt Lassak ‘16 as the only Lemont students to earn multiple state medals and became the first student in school history to earn two state runner-up finishes; she was the state runner-up in Introductory Board in 2024, the school said.
Under the tutelage of teacher Scott Duensing, Lemont has had at least one IDEA state qualifier in 17 of 18 years, the school said in a release. It has earned multiple medals in state competition six times, with a high of three state medals in 2015, 2021, 2024 and 2025. It qualified a school-record five entries to state finals competition in 2020 (cancelled due to COVID-19) and 2024.
