Mama D's Open for Business at New Archer Avenue Location
The Lemont restaurant, which closed in January 2012, re-opened at 12420 Archer Ave. on Friday.

Mama D's has finally made its long-awaited comeback to Lemont.
More than a year after closing its former location in the Riley's Pointe shopping plaza, Mama D's re-opened Friday in a new, larger space in Archview Plaza, 12420 Archer Ave.
Owner Ray DeNardis said he initially planned a soft opening to get the restaurant off the ground during its first two weeks. However, word spread quickly that the restaurant was back in business, he said.

"It feels great to finally be open and serving our old customers again. It's been too long," DeNardis said.
Mama D's—which serves pasta, Italian beef, burgers and hot dogs—closed in January 2012 due to undisclosed issues with its lease. Later that month, DeNardis confirmed that he had secured a new space in Archview Plaza, which is located near Crystal Grand Banquets, 12416 Archer Ave.

DeNardis had planned to open last summer, but the build-out took longer than expected.
"We ran into a few issues along the way, but now we're just glad to be back," he said.
Although the menu has remained virtually unchanged, DeNardis plans to expand its options later this year—possibly adding pizza to its selections.
A grand opening celebration will be announced in the coming weeks, he said.
