No One Injured After Train, Truck Collide In Lemont: Police

The collision happened at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday at New Avenue and Industrial Drive.

LEMONT, IL — No one was injured after an Amtrak train and a commercial truck and trailer collided at the railroad crossing at New Avenue and Industrial Drive on Thursday, Lemont Police said in a release.

The collision happened at 2:50 p.m. Thursday.

The train struck the trailer portion of the truck, and no one was injured, police said. The truck sustained only very minor damage.

As of 3:45 p.m. Thursday, the train was still stopped on the track awaiting an inspection by railroad personnel.

Police said the driver of the truck was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license and for failing to possess a required commercial driver’s license.

Traffic in the area was temporarily diverted for 50 minutes while the scene was cleared, police said. The incident remains under investigation in coordination with Amtrak and CN Railroad Police.
