State Street Resurfacing Project Slated For Fall 2025

LEMONT, IL — The Village of Lemont is preparing for a resurfacing of State Street, expected to begin in fall 2025.

At its meeting on Nov. 25, the Lemont Village Board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the state, so that it could proceed with phase 2 engineering for the resurfacing project.

The project will span from 127th Street to Cass Street, or 1.06 miles in length, according to Board documents.

Village Manager George Schafer told Patch that the Village has secured 80 percent funding in federal transportation dollars for all phases of the project. The Village will pay 20 percent of costs.

Public Works Director Ralph Pukula said the project has an estimated cost of $1 million.

"State Street was resurfaced over two decades ago and has many utility cuts, manhole structure deterioration and settling issues that require a total resurface," Pukula told Patch.
