Stop Sign Approved For Covington Drive, Camelot Lane
The new stop sign comes after complaints from residents about the speed of cars driving past Covington Knolls South Park.

LEMONT, IL — A new stop sign has been authorized for southbound Covington Drive at Camelot Lane after the Village Board's Monday meeting.
According to Board documents, trustees and village staff have received many complaints about the speed of cars that drive by Covington North Park.
A traffic survey was done and found that numerous pedestrians crossed the intersection. The survey, done from Jan. 8 to Jan. 16, found that 9,889 vehicles passed, and the average speed was 26 mph. The posted speed in that area is 20 mph, according to Board documents.

"There were 55 percent of the vehicles with enforceable violations, resulting in a "high" enforcement rating," Board documents state.
There is already a 3-way stop sign that exists on the south side of the park, which affects northbound traffic.

After the survey and report, the police department recommended installing the stop sign and the Village Board approved the ordinance authorizing the request.
