Summer Road Construction Begins In Lemont: What To Know

The Derby Road bridge repairs project, and the 127th Street pedestrian crossing project kick off soon.

LEMONT, IL — July is here and that means summer road construction is in full swing. In Lemont, several projects are starting in the next few weeks, including the 2025 resurfacing project, the 127th Street pedestrian crossing project and the Derby Road bridge repair project.

As always, drivers should be aware and watch for construction workers and road signs.

  • The Derby Road bridge repair project will begin the week of July 14, according to the Village. The project will take about a month. Derby Road will remain open, but there will be only one lane of traffic with temporary traffic signals controlling traffic.
  • The 127th Street pedestrian crossing project will also begin the week of July 14. The Village said that flaggers on 127th Street will be between Briarcliffe Drive and Rolling Meadows Drive, reducing traffic to only one lane. The project should only take 3 to 4 days.
  • The 2025 resurfacing project is scheduled to start July 7. This year's resurfacing will include: Pfeiffer Avenue from Logan Street to State Street; Division Street from Church to State; Hickory Street from Logan to Short Street; Weimer Avenue from Walter Street to State; Kim Place from the school to Rosehill Drive; Stephen Street from River Street to Industrial Park Drive, according to the Village.

Also planned for this year is the lead service line replacement phase 1, which will start in mid-August; the water main replacement project which will start in September or October; and the Derby Road salt storage dome, which will start in August.
