Temps To Hit 90 Degrees, Severe Weather Threat Possible For Illinois

ILLINOIS — Summer lovers will be happy with the forecast this week, as temperatures will start to warm up to above 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. However, with an increase in temps, also comes a chance of severe weather later this week.

The week will start with dry and sunny conditions on Monday, which has a high of 73 degrees. The weather service said there is a high swim risk at southern Lake Michigan beaches through Monday night.

Tuesday will be warmer with a high of 78, and temperatures will increase by quite a bit on Wednesday, which has a high of 89 degrees.

The weather service said there are periodic storm chances starting late Tuesday through Thursday. Thursday, which has a high of 92 degrees, has a level 2 of 5 severe weather threat, according to the current forecast.

Storms on Thursday could be strong to severe, with the potential for localized flooding, the weather service said.
