1,300 Fentanyl-Laced Pills Recovered In Undercover Probe

A 42-year-old Mundelein man now faces charges in connection with the investigation.

MUNDELEIN, IL — A 42-year-old man faces charges for selling fentanyl-laced pills in Lake County.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office special investigations group launched a probe into Alejandro I. Dominguez, 42, of the 200 block of Archer Avenue in Mundelein, after receiving information regarding drug dealing happening in the area.

During the undercover investigation, which spanned several months, detectives recovered 1,300 fentanyl-laced pills and 30 grams of cocaine.

Investigators took Dominguez into custody on Thursday. He's been charged with four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, five counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and 10 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Dominguez is expected in court on Tuesday for a detention hearing.
