2 Families Displaced Following Townhome Fire

VERNON HILLS, IL — Two families were displaced after a vehicle fire spread to a two-story townhome in Vernon Hills Monday night.

The Countryside Fire Protection District was called to the two-story townhome in the 300 block of Birchwood Court in Vernon Hills at about 9 p.m. where fire crews found a car on fire outside the townhouse, according to a news release from the fire protection district.

The fire spread to the garage and then up the exterior of the building.

Two families were displaced because of the fire and smoke damage, according to the news release.

No one was injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
