LAKE COUNTY, IL — A North Chicago alderman faces official misconduct and criminal damage to property charges for allegations he damaged the surveillance video system at a water treatment plant last year.
The two-count indictment was filled this past week against Anthony D. Coleman following an investigation by the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.
Coleman is accused of cutting the wires to a video camera in the North Chicago Wastewater Treatment Plant and removing the camera, which was installed in early 2023 following approval by the city council, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office.

“Coleman gained access to the water plant as a public official and destroyed an appropriate and legal camera system," Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said. "This Defendant doesn’t get to overrule the City Council by destroying government property.”
Coleman’s first court appearance is scheduled for April 4.
