Armed Man Arrested After Threatening Neighbors: Police

Luis Maganda-Chino, 40, was taken into custody in the 26200 block of North Route 83 near Mundelein Tuesday morning.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 40-year-old man armed with a knife and threatening neighbors near Mundelein Tuesday morning was taken into custody, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to a home in the 26200 block of North Route 83 in unincorporated Mundelein at about 10 a.m. after the man went to his neighbor's house and began shouting and stabbing the neighbor's door with a knife, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

When deputies arrived, the man, who was identified as Luis Maganda-Chino, 40, had retreated back into his home in the 26200 block of North Route 83, according to the news release.

After officers talked with Maganda-Chino for more than an hour he was convinced to leave his house. He was taken into custody, and deputies seized several knives.
