After several minutes of CPR, the child regained a pulse, Covelli said.
Paramedics arrived and transported the child to Froedtert Hospital in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
A preliminary investigation shows the child exited a door to the pool area from inside the home while the family was in another area of the residence, Covelli said.
The child was away from the rest of the family for approximately five minutes.
When a family member went looking for the child, they found him floating in the pool, Covelli said.
The family member immediately pulled the child out of the pool and began CPR.
The boy’s condition was improving at the hospital as of Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a further follow-up investigation into the incident.
