Carmel Issues Statement After Students Post Racist Snapchat Photo

School officials said serious discipline actions remain after meeting with the family of the girl who snapped the photo, WFLD reported.

MUNDELEIN, IL — Administrators at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein are condemning what they call a racist and offensive social media post involving two female students. According to WFLD, the girls posted the photo via Snapchat after getting a spray tan, calling themselves the "N" word. On Monday, school officials met with the family of the girl who snapped (posted) the photo, and said although the girl was apologetic, serious discipline actions remain, according to the news report.

WFLD said Carmel issued a statement following the incident, and said all student discipline matters are confidential. The statement also noted the school met with student groups Monday to "talk about ways to promote growth."
