LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Heritage Church in Libertyville has received approval from the village board to host a Christmas Eve service in Cook Park this year. The village board during an Oct. 27 meeting approved the request from the non-denominational church.

The service will run from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at Cook Park, according to village documents. Holding the service in the park on Christmas Eve is meant to provide enough space for social distancing.

The good news came a week before the church, located at 858 Technology Way, announced it would move to an all-campus livestream of its services this past Sunday after multiple staff members were exposed to a person with COVID-19.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the staff is self-quarantining until they are cleared through testing," according to a post on the church's Facebook page.
