Construction Worker Flown To Hospital After Fall From Roof

A construction worker suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital after falling from a roof at a home near Woodstock, authorities said.

The Woodstock Fire Rescue District responded around 4:21 p.m. Wednesday to the 10400 block of Saddlebred Trail in unincorporated Woodstock. Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said paramedics responded to a call for an individual who was reported to have fallen from a residential rooftop.

Firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene within five minutes and found a male victim on the ground in the rear of the home.

The man was suffering from multiple serious injuries, Vucha said.

It was learned that the man was part of a construction crew that was working on the roof at the time of the incident.

The worker fell approximately 30 feet and landed on a brick patio, Vucha said. It was unknown what led to the fall.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested due to the extent of the victim’s injuries.

The helicopter landed on a soccer field near Creekside Drive and Memory Trail in Wonder Lake.

The ambulance transported the victim to the helicopter from the scene.

The victim was subsequently airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Vucha said the worker suffered serious “potentially life-threatening injuries.”
