Coroner IDs Gurnee Woman As Victim In Fatal North Chicago Crash

Officials report the fatal crash took place at the intersection of IL Routes 137 and 43 in North Chicago on Friday, March 29.

NORTH CHICAGO, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a young Gurnee woman as the victim of a fatal Friday afternoon crash that took place at the intersection of IL Routes 137 and 43 in North Chicago. According to a release, the coroner's office was notified and responded to the scene at 1:06 p.m. Friday for a death investigation.

“On April 1, 2019, at 11 a.m., an autopsy was performed on the victim, 23-year-old Rebecca Heraver, of Gurnee," Dr. Howard Cooper, Lake County Coroner, said in a release. "The preliminary autopsy results indicate she died of multiple injuries due to a motor vehicle crash."

According to a release, Cooper said the investigation into the crash continues by the coroner's office, the North Chicago Police Department, and the Major Crash Assistance Team, and that toxicology is pending.

“We have been in close contact with Ms. Heraver’s family and our deepest condolences go out to them during this difficult time,” Cooper added.

According to a witness report to Patch, a blue Dodge minivan collided with a black Mitsubishi Eclipse, when the driver of the Eclipse ran a red light and was killed.
