Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said Tuesday that the woman was identified as Ashley Baker, 30, of Chicago.

Baker was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It is unknown if anyone else was inside the passenger car.

Police did not say how the crash was caused or if it has been determined who was at fault.

An autopsy confirmed Baker died as a result of blunt force injuries consistent with a vehicle crash, Newton said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Zion Police Department and Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the police department at 847-872-8000.
