Coroner IDs Woman, 33, Killed In 3-Vehicle DUI Collision In Lake County

Authorities believe an Addision man was driving while under the influence when he caused the crash that killed one and injured others.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 33-year-old Des Plaines woman killed in a collision in Wadsworth over the weekend.

Bogdana Mygal was pronounced dead at Advocate Condell Medical Center following the crash, which happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday. Preliminary results from an autospy show Mygal died from blunt force injuries as a result of a crash.

The collision happened when a 2020 Porsche Macan, driven by 58-year-old Addison man, was headed west on Russell Road and approaching a stop sign at Frontage Road, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The Porsche — while driving at a "high rate of speed" — crashed into the rear of a 2016 Chevrolet Volt, which was stopped at the stop sign.

The Chevrolet then crashed into a 2020 Mercedes-Benz, which was also stopped at the stop sign in front of the Chevrolet, according to the news release.

Mygal, a passenger in the Chevrolet, was taken to Condell Medical Center where she died, authorities said.

Four others were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening, including: the driver and another passenger in the Chevrolet, a 4-year-old Niles girl; the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, a 40-year-old Schaumburg man; and the driver of the Porsche, the Addison man.

Police said speed and alcohol impairment "appear to be factors for the driver of the Porsche." Criminal charges are likely to be filed once he is released from the hospital, according to the news release.

As of Monday morning, the Addison man remained hospitalized, Christopher Covelli, deputy chief for the sheriff's office, said. His name will not be released until he is in custody, he said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
