D128 School Board Member Resigns, Appointed To Village Board
The Community High School District 128 school board is now looking to fill the vacant seat.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Community High School District 128 Board of Education is looking to fill a seat vacated after former board member Casey Rooney resigned in recent days.
Rooney submitted her resignation, which was approved by the D128 board during an Aug. 28 meeting, after being selected to fill a trustee vacancy on the village board. She will be sworn in as new trustee at a September meeting.
Prior to her tenure on the D128 board, she served on the district’s calendar committee for 10 years and was a member of the Libertyville High School Parent CATS for eight years. Rooney has been a member of the board of education since 2018 and was serving a four-year term that expires in 2027.

She had been the board’s facilities and finance committee chairperson since 2021, according to a news release.
“The D128 Board and Administration are grateful to Casey for her many years of dedication to D128 and wish her all the best as she transitions to her new role,” said D128 Board of Education President Lisa Hessel.“Although she will be sorely missed by D128, we applaud Casey for continuing to serve our community as a Libertyville Trustee.”

Those interested in applying for the vacant seat must complete and submit the required application by Sept. 15. After reviewing the applications, the board may invite the prospective candidates for personal interviews, which will be conducted during closed meetings.
The D128 board will need to appoint a new board member no later than Oct. 26. More information and an online application can be found on the D128 website.
