Illinois State Police troopers on January 21 conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling 99 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Chloe Juergensen. Burris, who was the driver, had a suspended Illinois license and a suspended Wisconsin license.

Troopers asked if any weapons were in the car and Burris reportedly admitted to having a gun in the car.

Burris, who was the sole occupant, said the gun was under her driver’s seat, Juergensen said.

Troopers found a loaded Taurus 9mm in the car, Juergensen said. Juergensen said Burris is a felon after being convicted in Wisconsin for a weapons case.

Burris does not have a Firearm Owner Identification card or concealed carry license in Illinois.

Lake County Judge Veronica O’Malley ordered Burris held on a $250,000 bond, meaning she would need to post $25,000 cash to be released.

Burris was released from the Lake County Jail on Wednesday after a judge reduced her bond to a personal recognizance, court records show.

Burris is scheduled to appear in court again on March 8 for a status of preliminary hearing.
