Firefighters Rescue Dog From Pond In Hawthorn Woods

Firefighters rescued a dog that went out into the icy water of a pond in a Hawthorn Woods neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters rescued a dog that went out into the icy water of a pond in a Hawthorn Woods neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. The Countryside Fire Protection District and Hawthorn Woods Police Department responded around 2:42 p.m. Wednesday to the 1-100 block of East Prairie Court in Hawthorn Woods for a service call.

A person called 911 after seeing a dog swimming around in the icy water of Countryside Glen Lake.

Police officers and firefighters arrived and confirmed the dog was still in the water. A rescue diver was deployed onto the pond and the dog was safely rescued without incident.

“Everyone is safe including the dog and all police and fire personnel that responded. Great work by all involved,” fire officials said.

The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department also responded to the scene to assist with the rescue.
