Former Lake County Man Purposely Crashed Plane Into Field April 18

The man once lived in Wadsworth Illinois before moving to the west coast for work.

Zachary Cain Stickler, 34, formerly of Wadsworth in Lake County crashed his plane into a field in California Saturday after texting his friends that he was doing so on purpose, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The man had appeared in court the day before.

“The previous day, Stickler had pleaded not guilty in Shasta County Superior Court to making criminal threats and to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an alleged domestic dispute,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett told the Tribune.

The Tribune reported that Stickler had moved from Wadsworth Illinois to Long Beach in late 2013. He worked for Accelerated Flight Training for about 10 months.
