The Kirk Players are pleased to announce the performances of their upcoming annual “children’s show,” “The Trials of Robin Hood.”  The annual “children’s show” is dubbed as such due to the fact that it includes actors as young as ten years old and that the play can be enjoyed by “children of all ages.”
“The Trials of Robin Hood,” is, essentially, three plays in one.  Director Jeff Harding notes, “The story is told from three points of view.  Each of the three stories is basically the same, but told with the slant of the characters telling them (Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Sheriff of Nottingham).”  Adds Assistant Stage Manager Betty Slack, “This is one of the funniest scripts I’ve read and the humor should appeal to both adults and youth.”  An added degree of fun, uncertainty, and interaction for those attending each performance, is that, at the end of the show, the audience plays the part of the jury, determining whose story is truthful.
While the Kirk Players Children’s Shows are known for introducing younger performers to the theater, resulting in many first appearances on stage, this production also includes some adult performers also making their stage debut.  Assistant Director Randy Margison notes, “The new actors are already solid in their characterizations, as well as being where they’re supposed to be when they’re supposed to be, that they’re fitting in with the “veterans,” who are also brilliant….of course.”  Harding points out that, “We have tasked our 20 actors to play over 35 roles,” and Slack adds, “Several of the actors play multiple roles and it is especially impressive to see how they are able to differentiate the various roles that they are playing.”
Performers, young and “not so young,” include Matthew Zurawski, Riley Kuhn, Jon Matousek, Lucy Piland, Grayson Wright, Pepper Rathmann, Marilee C.C. Rusiniak, Barb Selvaggio, Luella Billock, Leah Atkinson, Steven Galuska, Audrey Wright, Diane Covert, Annie Stauber, Nat Brautigam, Randy Margison, Pat Blake, Susie Hill, Jess Motyka, Betty Slack, Mike Lieberman, Vidal Gonzalez, and David Gonzalez.  The Management Team includes Director Jeff Harding, Assistant Director Randy Margison, Stage Manager Jess Motyka, Assistant Stage Manager Betty Slack, Producer and Artistic Director Gretchen Grassl, and Fight Choreographer Adam Armstrong.  While the Kirk Players is based in Mundelein, Harding, commenting about the cast and crew of this show, happily states, “This show brings people together from all of our surrounding areas.  It is a great thing to be able to reach some of our neighboring communities.”
All performances will be held at Mundelein High School, 470 North Lake Street, Mundelein, IL 60060.  Performances will be held Friday March 25 at 7:00pm, Saturday March 26 at both 2:00pm and 7:00pm, as well as Sunday March 27 at 2:00pm.   Tickets may be purchased through the Kirk Players website www.kirkplayers.org or by calling 847-521-6192.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
Founded in 1966, Kirk Players is a not-for-profit corporation of volunteers with the purpose of providing service to the community through the arts.  Revenue from productions is invested back into the community to support the arts and art programs.  While based in Mundelein, the Kirk Players work throughout Lake County.
