'Judy's Blazers' Raising Money for Lung Cancer Foundation
The team will walk in a 5K Sunday in honor of Libertyville resident Judy Blaeser.

On Sunday, a team of local residents will converge upon Chicago to walk a 5K in honor of a Libertyville resident who is battling stage 4 lung cancer.
Judy's Blazers will walk in honor of Judy Blaeser of Libertyville.
Blaeser was diagnosed with lung cancer in February. The cancer had also spread to her brain and bones, said Jonathan Stapleton, Blaeser's future son-in-law. He said Blaeser has already had three tumors removed from her brain, and she has undergone chemotherapy and radiation on her brain, lymph nodes and bones.
Blaeser's family is now raising money for the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation in her honor. About 25 people are set to walk in Sunday's 5K at Montrose Harbor. So far, Judy's Blazers have raised $4,485 for the Lung Cancer Foundation.
Stapleton said and his fiancée, Jessica, started fundraising about a month ago. They had been looking for a foundation to support in honor of Blaeser.
"We just wanted to put something together," said Stapleton.
He said the family has "received a lot of support from the community." So far, Jessica has raised the most money—$2,495—for the Lung Cancer Foundation.
The team's original overall goal was $2,500.
