Lake County Man Accused Of Disseminating Child Porn

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 22-year-old Lake County man faces possession and distribution of child pornography charges following an investigation by local police.

John C. Dressel, of the 21500 block of West Hampshire Place in unincorporated Mundelein, has been charged with two counts of disseminating child pornography and seven counts of possessing child pornography of children under the age of 13 years old following a search by police of his home on Tuesday.

Detectives launched an investigation into Dressel after receiving a tip from an online social media network regarding a user who uploaded child pornography from a device in Lake County. Sheriff’s detectives determined the likely source was coming from a home in the 21500 block of West Hampshire Place in unincorporated Mundelein, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Detectives obtained a warrant and searched the home on Tuesday. They seized electronics that belonged to Dressel, and contained child pornography, and they determined he was distributing the chid porn as well.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to detain Dressel in custody while awaiting trial, and Dressel is expected in court Wednesday afternoon.
