LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lake County man was arrested Tuesday as a result of an investigation out of Houston, Texas into aggravated sexual assault of a child, the Lake County Sheriff's office said in a news release. Members of the Lake County SHeriff's office Warrants Team and the U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) arrested Patrick H. Tillman, 30, from the 24300 block of West Old Oak Drive in unincorporated Mundelein, who had an active arrest warrant stemming from accusations of aggravated sexual assault of a child, the news release said.

During Houston Police Department's investigation, Tillman left the Houston area and traveled to Hawaii and New York, according to the news release. A warrant for his arrest was issued by Houston officials on April 7, the sheriff's office said. The victim's mom contacted the Lake Zurich Police Department with information she developed which indicated Tillman might be in the Lake Zurich area with extended family, according to the news release.

Lake Zurich police started investigating these claims and developed information that Tillman might be staying in unincorporated Mundelein, and passed that information to the Lake County Sheriff's office warrants team, according to the news release.

Team members then conducted an investigation and found Tillman was likely living with his wife at a home in the 24300 block of West Old Oak Drive in unincorporated Mundelein, leading warrants team deputies to conduct surveillance at the home, the sheriff's office said. They found that Tillman was indeed living there, and went and arrested him Tuesday.

Tillman is being held at the Lake County jail and the sheriff's office website lists his court date as May 20.

“Whether in a pandemic or ordinary time, our warrants team will take all measures to apprehend those wanted for violent crimes and crimes against children," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said. "This is an example of great law-enforcement collaboration between the Lake Zurich Police Department after receiving a tip and working with our warrants team, resulting in the apprehension of someone charged with a horrific crime.”

While arresting Tillman, deputies also found 64-year-old Barry E. Metz, from the 0-100 block of Pine Circle in Cary, who was wanted for accusations of violating a court order, according to the news release. Metz was given a Notice to Appear on June 22 in Lake County Court, and was then released, the sheriff's office added.
