Lake County Summer Jobs Program For Low-Income Kids
Middle and high school kids whose families meet low income guidelines have a chance to get some meaningful work this summer.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — It's nearly time again to register for Lake County's popular Summer Youth Employment Program. The program will provide work experience for about 215 middle and high school students this summer, according to a release from Lake County Workforce Development Department.
They'll be accepting applications from Feb. 1 to 5 p.m. on March 31. They'll accept kids who will be age 14 to 18 by April 15. Applicants on an individualized education plan, or IEP, can be up to 22 years old. They also must be attending middle or high school and receive free or reduced lunch, or meet low income guidelines.
There are a few ways to apply. You can pick up a physical application at the Waukegan Job Center at 1 N. Genesee St. or one of many town offices and schools. You can also print one out, or do it online, at the Lake County Job Center website.

If you filled out your application on paper, you can hand deliver it to the Waukegan Job Center, fax it to 847-377-3474 or mail it to:

Check the job center website after April 15 to check the status of your application. The program which lasts about six weeks will begin on June 17.
