Local Resident Opens Business to Provide Care for Seniors
Lindenhurst resident Darryl Mackin opened a ComForcare Home Care franchise in Libertyville.

After more than 20 years working as a supply chain professional in various corporate roles that relocated him around the world, Lindenhurst resident Darryl Mackin started to reevaluate what was most important to him.
âThe idea of starting my own business was always tucked away in the back of my mind,â said Mackin, who after years of high-pressure demands and a strenuous schedule, finally decided to make a fresh start by opening his own senior care business. In May, Mackin opened ComForcare Home Care in Libertyville, serving Lake County.

While experiencing his fatherâs own illness years ago, Mackin was inspired to make a change for those seeking help for their aging and sick loved ones in his own neighborhood.Â
âWhile my father was sick, there was nothing like ComForcare in his area. My mother was his primary caregiver,â said Mackin. âI tried to help out in any way that I could, but I was an eight hour drive from my parentsâ house at the time. It would have made a huge difference in our lives to have a trusted, professional caregiver caring for my father.â

As studies prove, there continues to be a rising demand for senior home care. Today, a third of older Americans are living by themselves, and when questioned, most seniors state they would prefer to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.  In addition, it is predicted that by 2020, there will be more Americans over the age of 65 than under 15; and in 2030, the number of people over 65 will have doubled, leading to a higher demand for at-home senior care services.Â
ComForcare offers structured training to all of its caregivers, including general training in bathing and transferring properly, as well as specialized instruction for Alzheimerâs and dementia patients. Additional training is given based on the specific needs of the client.
âI wanted to open this business built on personalized attention and trust, and so far, I think thatâs exactly what weâve done.â
