Man Fires Gun Out Of Car Sunroof In Zion: Police
A man was arrested after police detectives witnessed him randomly fire a gun, police said.

A man was arrested after police detectives witnessed him randomly fire a gun out of his car in Zion on Tuesday. Royland Boyles, 30, of Zion, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Members of the Lake County Special Investigations Group (SIG) were in Zion conducting an unrelated investigation at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when they witnessed a subject fire a gun out of a vehicle.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Salem Boulevard near Joppa Avenue when the driver, identified as Boyles, fired a round out of the vehicle’s sunroof.
SIG detectives coordinated a traffic stop on the vehicle with marked squad cars from the Zion Police Department.

Boyles was taken into custody and a Ruger 9mm handgun was recovered, according to the Zion Police Department. No one was injured during the incident.
Officers also recovered a spent 9mm casing near the intersection of Salem Boulevard and Joppa Avenue.
Boyles appeared in bond court on Wednesday and a judge set his bond at $200,000. Boyles remains held in the Lake County Jail and will appear in court on July 22.
