Man Gets Prison Time For Drug Charges, Possessing Gun As A Felon

A Marengo man has been sentenced to five years in prison after detectives found him possessing “dealer amounts” of drugs and illegally possessing a gun while being a felon.

Anthony Domino, 32, of Marengo, was charged in October 2020 with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stemmed from a search warrant being served at Domino’s home on June 30, 2020.

Prosecutors said that police found “dealer amounts” of controlled substances and cannabis.

Among the items seized were cocaine, a scale, cutting agents and multiple baggies used to package narcotics for sale, according to prosecutors.

A 9mm Ruger handgun was also found. Domino is a convicted felon from a 2009 Kane County case.

An arrest warrant was issued and officers arrested Domino months later on October 9, 2020.

During the arrest, they found “dealer amounts” of cannabis inside the residence again, prosecutors said.

He was additionally charged with possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver over 500 grams and possession of cannabis over 500 grams.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force investigated both cases.

Court records show Domino entered into a negotiated plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office on Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty to unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony.

In exchange, prosecutors dismissed the rest of his charges.

McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis approved the plea deal and sentenced Domino to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Domino will be required to serve the sentence at 50% in accordance with truth-in-sentencing guidelines. He will receive 48 days of credit for time already served.
