Mundelein Woman Dies In Fatal Hit-And-Run: Coroner

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 36-year-old Mundelein woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in Waukegan Sunday night.

The woman, who has been identified as Michelle Heidbrick, was crossing the street near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Jackson Street when she was hit by the vehicle. Authorities say the vehicle then fled the scene.

Heidbrick was taken to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries. She was pronounced dead in the emergency room, according to the coroner's office.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Heidbrick died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department Major Crash Unit.
