New Drive-Thru Coronavirus Testing Site Opens In Antioch

A drive-thru coronavirus testing site has opened up for the public, by appointment only, at an urgent care facility in Antioch. PromptMed Urgent Care said they have converted their Antioch clinic, located at 420 East Route 173, into a drive-thru testing site available to everyone who is experiencing upper respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough and sore throat.

The facility requires the public to make an appointment before showing up by calling 847-652-9700. They will be open every day.
Patients with symptoms of COVID-19 will be evaluated and tested — if they meet the criteria — from the comfort of their own car.

Staff members will provide face masks for each person in the car and everyone must wear them at all times during their visit.
The test samples are processed at an external commercial lab. Patients should expect lab results in three business days after being tested due to an overwhelming number of tests being processed, according to PromptMed Urgent Care.

Recently passed legislation called Families First Coronavirus Response Act guarantees free testing for people suspected of having coronavirus.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 937 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 5,994 confirmed cases and 99 deaths. The number of people tested so far is at 35,225, data shows.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced on Tuesday that he is extending the state’s stay-at-home order until April 30. He also extended the disaster proclamation and school closures.
The stay-at-home order was initially set to end on April 7 before Pritzker extended it by 23 days.
