“We’re pleased that the new location at the Village’s Courtland Commons allows us to expand the number of booths to include more artists,” said Christa Lawrence, the festival’s founder and event chair. “We want to ensure people know of the new location since it was at Kracklauer Park for the last 12 years. Courtland Commons is just one block south of there.”
Artists will be in the paved area, which visitors should find easy to access, park district officials said.
Along with professional artists, the Mundelein Arts Festival includes a tent highlighting artwork by students from Mundelein High School and Carmel Catholic High School. With the help of Platinum Sponsors Mundelein McDonald’s and BCU, Silver Sponsor Mundelein Automotive, and Bronze Sponsor Mundelein Community Bank, scholarship money will be awarded to students from each school.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The festival will also include a free craft tent for kids, courtesy of Goldfish Swim School and Tonality, where children can stop by to create scratch art, according to the news release.
Food vendors Tamales Diana and Hay Botana will be on hand and local musicians will perform over the weekend, including Stankovic Music Learning Center, Old Enough to Know Better, and Prairie Sky on Saturday, and Frank Bagot, Doug Blake, and Mary Lai on Sunday.
