Obituary: World War II Veteran John A. Herrick
Services have been scheduled for John A. Herrick of Vernon Hills.

John A. Herrick, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
He was born Feb. 7, 1924 in Chicago, was formerly of Glenview and has lived in Vernon Hills for the past 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II and was a retired metallurgist for the Signode Corporation.
Surviving are three children, Kathleen (Steven) Sondgeroth of LaMoille, IL, Vicki Herrick of Vernon Hills and Timothy (Heather) Herrick of Elgin; five grandchildren, Kyle Sondgeroth, Connie (Carl) Gustafson, Craig Sondgeroth, Amanda Loerch and Delaney Herrick; great-grandson, Stryder Gustafson and sister-in-law, Charlotte Rothenberg.

A visitation will be from 10 a.m., until the time of service at 12 p.m. Wed, May 15, 2013 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) For those who can not attend an additional visitation will be held at Crosslife Church (431 W. Austin Ave. Libertyville) later Wednesday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Libertyville.
