One Person Killed, Several Injured In Weekend Beach Park Crashes
An autopsy is being scheduled for a 23-year-old male killed in a May 12 crash in Beach Park, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
BEACH PARK, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office said deputies were sent to the area of Green Bay Road and Kenosha Road in Beach Park Saturday for a traffic crash that left one person dead and two others hospitalized with injuries. According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded at 2:30 a.m. and found a red 2014 Nissan Altima had been involved and damaged in a single-vehicle crash. The Altima also struck the Benton Township Assessor’s Office Building at 40020 N Green Bay Road, the sheriff's office said.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Nissan, a 36-year-old male of Chicago, was driving southwest on Kenosha Road, and when approaching the stop sign at Green Bay Road the driver didn’t stop, crossed Green Bay Road, hit an embankment, and then hit the Benton Township Assessor’s Office.
The driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville by a Flight for Life Helicopter, with critical life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office added that the front-seat passenger, a 23-year-old male of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, was taken to Vista East Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and a 23-year-old male passenger in the back seat (home address undetermined at this time), was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and is scheduling an autopsy for the back-seat passenger, according to the sheriff's office.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said deputies also responded to the area of North Sheridan Road and North Ganster Road in Beach Park Sunday for a traffic crash that resulted in life-threatening injuries for a Waukegan woman. According to the sheriff's office, Lake County deputies responded at 2 a.m. to the crash scene where they found a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette with significant damage, driven by a 23-year-old Waukegan male, who was traveling southbound on Sheridan Road, the preliminary investigation shows. According to the sheriff's office, a witness said the driver was traveling very fast, lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic and then drove off the road into a utility pole and several trees.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found a passenger from the Chevrolet, a 27-year-old Waukegan woman, on the ground near the car, unconscious. The sheriff's office said she was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville on a Flight for Life Helicopter, with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Vista East Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both weekend crashes remain under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit, according to the sheriff's office.
