Police Blotter: Alcohol, Traffic Arrests

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Joshua L. Herion, 33, of 512 Stevenson, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 22 on South Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for resisting a peace officer, speeding and improper lane usage. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 5 court date.

Nicholas A. Mastrototaro, 21, of 26475 N. Pheasant Run, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 25 on South Fourth between Lincoln Avenue and Rockland Road. He was also cited for DUI over .08, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 28 court date.

Todd D. Vena, 29, of 15384 Wildwood Court, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 25 on Oak Spring Road near St. Mary's Road. He was also cited for DUI over .08 and improper lane usage. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 12 court date.

Drugs

Two individuals were charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia May 22 on Oak Spring Road. Arrested were: Christopher P. Crow, 21, of 164 Coolidge, Libertyville; and Parker T. Fiore, 21, of 1967 Bob-O-Link Lane, Libertyville. Crow was also cited for improper lane usage, while Fiore was also cited for unlawful possession of cannabis. Both were released on $120 personal recognizance bonds pending a June 12 court date.

Traffic

George L. Silva, 42, of 416 Oakdale Ave., Mundelein, was charged with driving while license revoked, a Class 4 felony, May 20 on the 500 block of Garfield Avenue. He was also cited for failure to wear a seat belt. He was remanded to the custody of the Lake County Jail following a bond hearing.

Nayma A. Acevedo, 22, of 50 Wisconsin Ave., Waukegan, was charged with not having a valid drivers license May 24 on Butterfield Road near Willow Road. She was also cited for speeding. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 19 court date.

Steven J. Gissing, 26, of 16 Crestview, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving while license revoked May 24 near Hurlburt Court and Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for driving without lights when required. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 12 court date.

Maria I. Martinez, 39, of 544 Will, Park City, was charged with driving while license suspended May 26 on North Milwaukee Avenue near Adler School. She was also cited for not having a rear registration plate light. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 19 court date.

Lauren E. Burghardt, 21, of 10416 Seeman Road, Huntley, was charged with driving while license suspended May 27 on Route 176 just west of Butterfield Road. She was also cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a June 19 court date.

Warrant

Jose A. Lara-Velazquez, 31, of 655 Deep Woods, Mundelein, was arrested May 25 on a Lake County warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge. The bond on the warrant was set at $35,000 and he was transported to the Lake County Jail. He was also cited for driving while license revoked, not having a valid drivers license, not having valid registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, improper display of registration, failure to transfer registration upon transferring ownership of vehicle and two counts of obstructing identification. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond for the Libertyville charges pending a June 4 court date.
