Police Blotter: Battery, Possession of Marijuana

Recent arrest reports from the Libertyville Police Department.

Battery, Warrant Arrest

An incident at an apartment in the 100 block of West Golf Road at 9:45 p.m. April 14 resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

Leland Maniloff, 46, was charged with battery after he allegedly pushed two women who were at the apartment to help Adriana Erendira Chiquini, Maniloff’s former housekeeper, retrieve her belongings. Maniloff was processed and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond pending a court date of May 15.

Adriana Erendira Chiquini, 35, of 325 Stafford Drive, Mundelein, was charged with battery and a warrant arrest out of Lake County. Chiquini was unable to post bond and she was transported to the Lake County Jail to await a bond hearing.

Battery

Jose B. Alarcon, 23, of 2709 Elim Avenue, 1, Zion, was arrested for battery at Austin’s Saloon, 481 Peterson Road. After being refused service by a bartender, Alarcon threw a glass at the bartender, and Austin’s security was called to escort Alarcon from the premises at 1:50 a.m. April 17. Alarcon left the premises but then returned and twice attacked the security guard from the back, by jumping in the air and using both feet to kick the victim in the center of his back and another kick to the back of the head. Alarcon was taken into custody and processed. He was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond pending a court date of May 8.

Theft, Criminal Damage to Property

An unknown person stole the lids from two dryers in an apartment building in the 100 block of West Park Avenue on April 17. The dryers were in the building’s common laundry room and the lids were attached to coin boxes that contained approximately $200 in quarters. The two dryers will require replacement at a cost of $500-$600. It is not certain when the theft occurred. 

Possession of Cannabis

Keon M. Turner, 29, of 3120 Grandville Street, Waukegan, was stopped at 1:10 p.m. on Route 176 near First Street on April 18. He was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, no front registration plate and failure to signal when required. During the traffic stop, officers smelled cannabis coming from the interior of the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed three plastic bags containing suspected cannabis. Turner was arrested and processed. He was later released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a court date of May 15.

Suspended Driver's License

James Simmons, 22, of 4358 McClure Avenue, 5, Gurnee, was charged with driving while his license was suspended and driving without headlights when required. He was stopped at 5:10 p.m. April 20 after he was seen driving in the rain without headlights. The traffic stop occurred on Garfield Avenue just north of Evergreen Court. A records check revealed that Simmons’ driver’s license was suspended and he was arrested. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a court date of May 15.

DUI

Hector Munoz Torres, 26, of 57 South Chicago, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to signal when required. He was seen changing lanes without signaling and was stopped by police on Milwaukee Avenue near West Maple. Smelling the odor of alcohol, officers attempted to perform field sobriety tests, however Torres was uncooperative. Torres was released after posting his driver’s license and $1,000 personal recognizance bond, pending a court date of May 17.
