Police Still Looking For Suspects In Libertyville Trail Attack
A runner says he was attacked Monday night on the Libertyville Nature Preserve trail.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Authorities are continuing to investigate an alleged attack that happened on a trail in Libertyville this past week.
Police say they have made no arrests and have not yet identified the suspects accused of blocking a runner's path on the Libertyville Nature Preserve Trail at about 9:45 p.m. Monday and demanding he empty his pockets. When the runner refused to do so, he was punched by one of the suspects, police said.
The incident happened in the area of the trail that is about 500 feet southwest of Newgate Court, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department.

The runner was able to "gain the upper hand during the fight" and backed away, heading south away from the suspects, according to the news release. He sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made in the case, and police also have not identified the suspects, Libertyville Police Department Sgt. Scott Peeler told Patch in an email response.

Meanwhile, authorities have been asking for the public's help in tracking down the suspects.
One of the men is described as being a black male who is about 6-feet, 2-inches tall with longer, unkempt hair that has short sides. The other suspect is described as being a 17-year-old black teen who is 5-feet, 7-inches tall with short, thick, unkempt dreadlocks.
