request for research funding

letter to Congress

Last month, I was among thousands of Alzheimer's Association advocates in Washington, D.C. It was a very humbling experience to honor my husband, father, aunt and cousin on Capitol Hill, all of whom have died due to complications from this disease. This trip was particularly special having shared it with my son, Dave, and daughter, Nancy. Together, we raised awareness and asked Congress to continue to provide funding for research, as to prevent other families from going through what we did. Thankfully, our bipartisan leaders in Congress have listened to us and have played an important role in accelerating the way our nation addresses this disease - but this progress can't stop. That’s why I’m calling on Congressman Schneider to support a $113.485 million increase in research funding at the National Institutes for Health (NIH) for fiscal year 2026. Now is the time to not only invest in progress but invest in hope. Please join me in urging Congress to continue investing in research so one day, we can bring an end to this devastating disease.
