Stop Using the "R" Word Say LHS Students
Libertyville High School students are on a campaign to end the use of the "R" word.
Students at Libertyville High School viewed an important video in class Wednesday created by the school's Best Buddies program and Cat-TV to spread the word that the "R" word (retarded) is not cool to use because it is a derogatory put down to those with legitimate mental disabilities.
The video has also been posted on YouTube.
LHS also has a banner outside the school this week for students to sign, pledging that they won't use the slur anymore. Students are also signing pledges to hang on their lockers.
