Students Named Delegates to Illini Girls State

Two Libertyville High School juniors will travel to Charleston in June to attend the week-long American Legion Auxiliary Illini Girls State to learn how the legislature works.

Two juniors from Libertyville High School will join more than 500 of the state's best and brightest girls at Eastern Illinois State University this summer for the 73rd season of the American Legion Auxiliary Illini Girls State, a political simulation project patterned after the State of Illinois.

The American Legion-sponsored delegates are Tara Eyre and Julia Curry.

At Illini Girls State, delegates spend a week learning the duties of various public offices. They also have their own legislature to introduce, debate and pass simulated bills.
