Village Trustee Will Run Against Libertyville Mayor In Spring Election

Village trustee Matthew Hickey has announced he will run against current mayor Donna Johnson next spring.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Village trustee Matthew Hickey has announced he will run against current mayor Donna Johnson next spring.

Johnson won the mayoral seat after running unopposed four years ago. Hickey is longtime community volunteer and stay-at-home parent, who also has a background in community development, urban planning and commercial real estate, according to the Daily Herald.

He says he's "deeply invested" in the future of Libertyville and loves the village.

Meanwhile, Johnson, a retired corporate attorney, says she will aim to make smart decisions for the village of re-elected and is focused on smart growth, according to the Daily Herald.
